Richard Sidey is a professional digital media designer and nature photographer from the South Island of New Zealand. He specialises in time lapse and time based media, antarctic landscape and wildlife photography and experimental short films. His time lapse short film Aeon, a project completed at Massey University in Wellington, has won several awards internationally, including 'best short film' at the Documentary New Zealand Film Festival in 2005.

In the past few years Richard has completed several artist residencies with Theme Media, Silversea Expeditions, and Quark Expeditions, travelling to the spectacular polar regions of the planet. His travel blog Sich on Ice features his latest trips, including voyages to the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, Chile, The Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica.
